BREAKING!! PALS!! THIS IS NOT A DRILL AND IT IS NOT A PUDDLE!! There is now, in the garden, a POOL.
Context: it has been HOT. Tempe in June is, and I say this as its number one correspondent, A LOT. We have been flat. We have been tragic. We have been lying about on the cool tile like five dropped scarves. And then, PALS, the humans came home with a BOX, and the box became a RING, and the Bald Man blew into it until he changed several colours, and then the hose happened, and then — water. A whole ring of it. On the ground. FOR US.
14:00 — First contact. I got in immediately. I did not test the temperature first like a COWARD. I stood in the middle and I looked at everyone and I BILLOWED. This is the best I have ever felt and I have felt some ways.
14:20 — Reactions from the desk. Harvey approached, considered the water at length, placed one paw into it, and retired to write about it. Sabrina declined, from a distance, with her entire face. Salem got in with me and we made it choppy. Zelda supervised from the shade and did not get her feet wet, but she watched the whole time, which is Zelda for delighted.
14:45 — I have discovered that if you BITE the water it does not stay bitten. I have reported this to the others. We are all now looking into it, scientifically, with our mouths.
15:30 — The upstairs window was open, and I am fairly certain there was watching from up where the important resting happens, and possibly a bit of laughing, and pals, if a ring of water in the garden can send a good sound up a whole flight of stairs, then it is not a pool. It is a MACHINE FOR JOY and I will defend it with my life.
This is the best thing the humans have ever bought, and I am including the good lead in that. I will be in it. I will always be in it. Tune in, won’t you!!
